Joe Cay, near Compass Cay, provided some phenomenal underwater scenes. The water was shallow and we spent several hours snorkeling above the beautiful coral reef. Because it was a clear, sunny day and the coral was not far below the surface, we were able to capture some excellent colors. The first two photos show us floating on the surface and the coral was just a few feet below us. Holding the underwater camera in one hand I continued to take photos as each time my head turned there was a different scene, almost as if it was arranged by a decorator. There were not many fish or other sea creatures in this area, at least not while we were snorkeling. Thunderball Cave had many more fish, but this area had a great deal more coral. As always, snorkeling is like swimming in an aquarium and Joe Cay had some of the best examples of underwater life we have found in the Exumas.
