Our first stop in the Bahamas was Bimini. We arrived on New Years’ Eve, 2009 after traveling from No Name Harbor in Miami. We left at 4 am on December 30 and arrived 24 hours later. On New Year’s Day, we checked into immigration, paid our $300 and received a six month cruising permit and fishing license. We anchored one night and then went to Suncrest Marina on January 1, my birthday. As we pulled into the dock, Dee from a boat next to us invited us to a potluck that afternoon. We went and there we were first introduced to four couples, two of whom became our traveling companions, Bill and JoAnne on a trimaran, Ultra, and Mark and Joanne on a trawler, Avalon. We stayed in Bimini for six days until the weather was favorable for traveling to Nassau. Blog entries for Bimini begin here. Play the slideshow below to see some of our Bimini photos. There are quite a few photos here. To come back to this page after watching the slideshow, just exit out of the it.
