    <title>Fort Lauderdale, 2008</title>
    <link>http://www.seasthedaynow.com/Seas_The_Day/Fort_Lauderdale,_2008.html</link>
<description>After we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, we had to move Seas the Day from the Catamaran Company docks to Las Olas Municipal Marina. Then came the “fun.” We drove our 1995 Tahoe with over 100,000 miles to Florida, towing a UHaul trailer. The first thing we needed to do was to unpack the UHaul and turn it in. Since we didn’t want to load Seas the Day up with boxes, we rented a storage space, unpacked everything from the trailer and returned it. Next, we brought a few boxes aboard and started unpacking and arranging. Never having lived on a boat, we were just guessing what we would need. Luckily, or unfortunately, the Lagoon 420 has a great deal of storage space. We probably unpacked many items we later discovered we didn’t need. Just before we left on October 22, we emptied the remaining items aboard. When we arrived in Ft. Lauderdale, Hurricane Ike was developing offshore and headed our way. We had scheduled a one week sailing class with an instructor and had to delay it. As it turned out, we took that one week class over a period of several weeks. We used our own boat, rather than one of the sailing school boats. Hurricane Ike changed course, so we didn’t have to deal with that, but later we did sail through the areas of the Gulf Coast where this hurricane came ashore. We spent most of the two months in Ft. Lauderdale outfitting Seas the Day. This is when we discovered what BOAT means - Bring Out Another Thousand.
