This morning we went to a Baptist church in Black Point on Great Guana Cay.  It was a wonderful service.  The music was great with Smashy at guitar and a young boy on the drums.   Smashy (far left in photo) is a gentleman we have met who is an award winning sailboat racer who builds boats.  We hope to see him in the regatta next weekend in Farmer’s Cay.  A minister from Nassau was the visiting pastor.  The service resembled a Southern Baptist service with much singing.  The minister said prayers for the 11 cruisers who were in attendance.  We appreciated his hospitality and kindness towards us, as all of us were introduced to the rest of the congregation and applauded.   

In the photo, perhaps JoAnne (Ultra) and I should have removed our hats as our faces are in shadows, but we were glad we had them on during the service as most of the other ladies in the congregation were dressed in their “Sunday Best” with decorative hats.  No casual dress for this group, a welcome change from the way many people dress to go to church in the States.  We knew the “dress code” so got dressed up for the first time in many months.

On our dinghy ride back to our boats, we came across some cruisers from Wisconsin who were letting their dog float with them while they swam next to their boat in the anchorage.  He also wore his life vest, so perhaps he can’t swim or doesn’t like to swim, but regardless, he must prefer floating with his people to staying alone on the boat.  He seemed very happy.

Speaking of dogs, we have started leaving Daisy out on the deck when we leave for short periods of time.  At first we left the door to the cabin open, but then we discovered that she doesn’t enter it while we are gone, but stretches out on the deck.  Therefore, now we can lock up the cabin and shut the windows.  Of course, if anyone came aboard Daisy would no doubt attack them.......or not.

Tomorrow JoAnne and I are going to volunteer at the Black Point All-Age School. This is my first time back in a classroom since I retired three years ago.  I’m looking forward to it.
