Even Daisy is Tired of Waiting

Today we moved over to Coconut Grove to get a part for the generator which we had sent to a UPS store here. We are anchored just outside a large mooring field at Dinner Key Marina. Many marinas, especially in Florida, seem to be taking over anchorage areas and making them into mooring fields. This one was just finished a month or two ago and is huge. In fact, a shuttle dinghy will even come to get you and take you ashore if you pay the $18 to tie up to a mooring ball. We preferred to save that and take our own dinghy in. There is a boat ramp/dinghy dock, but it was a wet ride in as we are basically anchored in Biscayne Bay and it was choppy. The wind is about 12 kts out of the north tonight and making our boat rock, not uncomfortably, but we know we’re on the water.
After we left No Name Harbor we had to go to Crandon Park Marina on the other side of the bay to get fuel and water. The fuel there is the cheapest we’ve found - $2.69 for diesel - so worth the extra time and distance. As we crossed the bay again to Coconut Grove, we saw hundreds of small sailboats from the local sailing club. There were three different groups and each group was in a different part of the bay. The ones in the photo above were the smallest boats and this shows about 1/4 of them. They seemed to be elementary age children learning to sail. The other two groups were also large.
