One week to go
We’re down to the final week and a week from today we’ll be on our way to Florida. I’m taking a break from packing the kitchen stuff. Everything we didn’t need has been sold or given away. Now we have two piles - take and store. I’m sure I’m taking too much, but I guess you can give things away in Florida too.
Today, it’s the kitchen and maybe the laundry room (lot of cupboards), and tomorrow I’ll empty the bathroom cabinets and then start on the clothes.
Mark has spent the day bringing things out to the garage where we’ll store what we are keeping here. He built a platform so everything is off the floor, and most of our things are packed in plastic storage boxes. Most of the furniture we are keeping is out there now, so we’re sitting on the floor and have to share a stool at the kitchen island. We’re sleeping on an Aero bed.
Daisy has her vet appointment on Monday. She will get her international chip “installed” and get all the requisite shots. We’ll stock up on Heartgard and Frontline, as well as ear infection medication. We will also get her Health Certificate, which we’ll need when we leave the States.
Today, I got Daisy a soft side crate. It looks like it will work well as a security spot for her on the boat. She’s always loved her crate, but it’s too big and too heavy to bring onboard. She has already spent some time napping in it.
We got our “Magic Jack” in the mail yesterday and it works great. A phone connects to the computer with this USB “Magic Jack”. I guess it’s like Vonage, although I’ve never used that service. Now we can call anyone in the states for free, while we’re in the States and also when we are overseas. Also, people can call us. It’s a long distance number for them, unless they also have Magic Jack. We were able to get a phone number with a 904 area code and a prefix for Jacksonville, FL which is very near St. Brendan’s Isle, our mail forwarding address. So, now we have a Florida address and a Florida phone number.
