We finally have a timeline
Now that Seas the Day is here, we can finally make plans to go to Ft. Lauderdale. We will leave in two weeks and arrive in Ft. Lauderdale on Monday, August 18. We think we’ll move Seas the Day to another marina, probably Las Olas soon after we arrive. We’ll spend the week provisioning for the Blue Water Sailing School class and begin that on Saturday, August 23. We have a list of items we must have aboard. The class will last a week. We’ll go on our own boat with an instructor, so hope to be able to customize the instruction. After we get back, we’ll spend a month at the marina. That will give us time to have the office built, put in the watermaker, get the cockpit enclosure, install the solar panels, etc. We will drive the Tahoe (1995) to Florida filled with way too much stuff. We might even need to rent a trailer. When we’re ready to leave, we’ll donate the Tahoe to some charity. At that point, it will be October, so rather than our original plan of sailing up the East Coast, we will probably go south. We can stay in Florida for up to 90 days, but we won’t be able to return until we have spent at least six months in other states. If we don’t do this, we’ll be paying sales tax to Florida.
