Day 3 Horn Island to Pearl River Mile 40 E

Every morning, it seems like we have something keeping us from leaving early. This morning, we were up early and Mark and Daisy went ashore in the dinghy. Last night there were lots of mosquitos, so I decided to skip the beach walk this morning. On their way to the shore, the dinghy ran aground and the motor dug into the mud bottom. That delayed us for about a half hour. Taking Daisy in the dinghy certainly cuts into our sailing time, but it also gives us a reason to go ashore and explore.
We passed many pods of dolphins today. Some stayed with us, swimming under the bow between the two hulls. Others played in front and behind us.
We made better time than we thought by tacking. In order to get to an anchorage where we are sheltered from the incoming front, we sailed to Pearl River which is just before New Orleans and anchored by a railroad bridge. We stopped at 9:45 pm. Unfortunately, there was no place to take Daisy ashore. She didn’t seem interested in using the trampolines on the forward deck so hopefully she can wait until morning when it will be light enough to bring her somewhere nearby in the dinghy.
