Day 2 Dauphin Island to Horn Island Mile 98 E
Day 2 Dauphin Island to Horn Island Mile 98 E
Friday, December 19, 2008
As soon as we got up, we hopped into the dinghy and motored to the deserted beach on Dauphin Island. Daisy ran and ran and ran. When we returned to Seas the Day, Mark had to fix the block between the dinghy and the davit because the rope had seized in it. He had to cut it off and replace the block. Luckily, he had a spare. We pulled the anchor at 10:30 am and were on our way.
The weather was great again, but there was very little wind. We stopped at Horn Island 4:40 . This is another barrier island however it is totally uninhabited, unlike Dauphin Island which had some houses until it became too narrow to build them.
We will try to make it to New Orleans tomorrow as a cold front is coming in on Sunday. Luckily, we have no timeline and can stop and wait for good weather. Click here for pictures of the trip so far.
Mark and I are addicted to Starbucks Frappuccinos and obviously won’t be getting any for the next few weeks. So....I used a recipe I had which is supposed to duplicate a frozen frappuccino. It was very good, but not quite thick enough. I’ll keep experimenting.
