Day 9 Tricks and Treats
We spent Friday resting, getting more groceries, and picking up Eric from the airport. We’ll need his expertise, and extra body, to help us over the next few days.
Mainly, it was a time to recover from the very rough crossing yesterday. We had gotten no sleep on the leg from Key West to Naples. In fact, our goal was to get to Ft Myers, but we couldn’t deal with another four hours and then arriving in an unfamiliar area in the dark.
We stayed at the Naples City Dock, which was a very nice marina, close to restaurants, shopping, walking, facilities, etc. It was also relatively inexpensive for the winter season, $63 a night. We were in a direct path for the local Naples private airport, but the sound of planes was preferable to the sound of waves crashing over the foredeck.
We had dinner at “The Dock” which was OK. It was packed, but not with locals, at least according to a man from MIchigan who was waiting for a pizza across the street.
We had time to clean the boat, inside and out, at least washing off most of the salt. Now, we’re ready for a new coat of salt tomorrow.
